I've owned this washer for 4 years without a problem. Yesterday I noticed some water and a little "dirt" in the fabric softener dispenser. (Btw- I don't use fabric softener.) I removed the lid and found mold. I removed the dispenser drawer from the washer and found that the surrounding "cabinet" was full of black mold. I use HE detergent and perform regular maintenance on the machine, Affresh, etc.. A quick Google search revealed that this is a regular problem. I have cleaned everything that I can see but I'm concerned about what might still be lurking inside. Beyond that Maytag said I'm out of luck as far as service because it is out of warranty. Whatever you buy search the manufacturer and mold first.
